Re-posting here the announcement today by Leather Reign (Evergreen Leather Events) on the collaboration between Leather Reign 12, a 501(c)(7) and Leather List, a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) corporation.
Leather Reign 12 announces a working alliance with Leather List, dedicated to strengthening Leather people and cultures.
Leather Reign has supported many Leather causes and nonprofits over its 11 year history. Our joint effort with Leather List is a significant step. There’s an almost 40 year history of Leather’s event-based charitable fundraising, beginning with the fight against AIDS in 1981, that is now moving forward.
LR 12 announces its sponsorship of six local & national nonprofits* that are supported through LeatherList.org. In the best Leather tradition, these six protect and care for Leather’s most vulnerable people. And, they include important Leather institutions.
LR 12’s sponsorship period begins today and runs through Dec 31, 2018 – both before and after LR 12 – to represent our commitment. You can find Leather Reign’s selections, learn more and contribute directly on this secure page: leatherlist.org/LR12
Statement of need
Today’s Leather people face health challenges, and more. Greater freedoms from violence, discrimination and privilege due to gender identity, sexual orientation and relationship status are not secure. Leather Reign and Leather List unite to help provide social, medical and legal equality to these members of Leather’s family, and some established Leather institutions.
Leather List offers a high level of community organization, fast, secure online fundraising and many other Leather resources. It’s now contracted with 44 local & national nonprofits (and counting). They work every day to protect Leather’s most vulnerable people, and develop Leather’s own institutions.
During LR 12, LL volunteers (including Board members) will be available in common areas to discuss and answer questions.
